PTI has postponed its Islamabad long march from September 27 to October 4, with the march now planned to depart from Peshawar.
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi said the party’s political committee unanimously approved the new date.
The decision came as Islamabad and Punjab faced extensive security preparations, including containers, police deployment and Rangers.
A senior PTI leader said the postponement was linked to the government’s extensive security measures and resources already committed.
PTI has also informed its political allies about the revised plan for the Islamabad march.
The October 4 protest is expected to keep Pakistan’s political tensions in focus.
